Contributing to CATF . . . A Collaborative Investment
by Catherine Irwin, Director of Casting the Future

It is no wonder that the Contemporary American Theater Festival has grown and prospered since its birth in 1991. With the vision, creativity, and determination of Ed Herendeen, along with the abundant talent and energy of so many playwrights and artists, the Theater Festival has become one of the most important new play development centers in the country. But without your help, their extraordinary work would not be possible.

The success that CATF has had is in great part due to the unwavering support we receive from our wonderful patrons who join us in recognizing and valuing new work. Most importantly, the last thirteen years have witnessed ever-growing numbers of people coming forward to support the work of CATF by offering countless hours of volunteer help, and by making a financial commitment to the growth and stability of CATF. This combination of artists, theater professionals, patrons and contributors is essential to our success.

Ticket sales revenues cover approximately 28% of the income needed to cover our expenses. The rest is raised through contributions from foundation grants, the federal and state government, businesses and many, many generous individuals. We are deeply grateful for this support.

If you have not already made a contribution to CATF, we want to urge you to do so this Season. Together we will be making a critical investment in the future of American theater.

Warmly,

Catherine Irwin
Director of Casting the Future
